The Child Center celebrated a remarkable 70 years at our 70th Anniversary Gala: Building Brighter Futures Together at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on May 25. Our first in-person gala in four years was truly a memorable one, with a program that entertained and moved the spirit.
Actor Elizabeth Davis was emcee for the evening. Guests also enjoyed performances by violinist Joya Bravo, pianist Cynthia Meng, and Child Center client Emily Moreno, whose powerful voice reminded us of young people’s vast promise.
We also heard from other clients who stood up to tell their stories.
Our Cash + Community Works participant Eudora Tucker spoke about her business model and how she uplifts her community in her own unique ways.
Danny Escobar, an innocent young man caught in the justice system, explained how therapy at The Child Center was a lifeline for him. Now he pays it forward by mentoring youth in his community. “I will share my story to show you that when you invest in young people, you help them live healthy, fulfilling lives,” Danny told the crowd. “I am living proof of that.”
The Child Center debuted this exciting new video about our legacy and future of our work.
At the end of the evening, it was our distinct honor to pay tribute to individuals and entities who have strengthened The Child Center immensely: Dick Jay and Pat Jay; the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation; and Diane Valente, our Program Director of OnTrackNY and Director of Behavioral Health Staff Development & Culture, who was this year’s Russell L. Carson award winner.
Everyone in the room reflected on the significance of the 70th anniversary. Child Center CEO Traci Donnelly shared, “We are living in a time of great change and great opportunity, and I am confident that The Child Center of NY is well-positioned to lead the way. Let us celebrate the past 70 years of The Child Center of NY and let us look forward to the next chapter in its remarkable history. Together, we can create a brighter future for all our children and families and build a world that is truly worthy of their boundless potential.”
The Child Center community continues to make a far-reaching impact, thanks in no small part to the contributions and partnership of people like you. Thank you so much to all who joined us for The Child Center’s 70th anniversary gala! If you were not able to join us, we are grateful for your continued support and look forward to seeing you at the next event.
